The Good News: Joe Sestak, against all odds, has outraised Curt Weldon for the second straight quarter.
The Delco Times reports:
Joseph Sestak raised more money than U.S. Rep. Curt Weldon for the second consecutive quarter as donors pumped approximately $2.1 million into the 7th District between July and September, according to preliminary figures released by the campaigns ahead of the Oct. 15 filing deadline.
Weldon will report having raised $912,000 over the past three months, compared to Sestak's $1.14 million, the campaigns said Tuesday.
PA-07 Watch has an
excellent post about the news here.
The Reality Check: As I took a nice stroll from campus to the Baltimore Pike today, I was very disturbed by the number of Curt Weldon yard signs. I was also distrubed that the signs proclaimed Weldon "An Independent Fighter for Us!" with nary a mention of the Republican party, but that's not the point. The point is that this race is far from over. Weldon knows he's in trouble, and he's going to fight back with everything he's got.
We've got Weldon cornered against the wall, but we can't get arrogant and we can't get complacent. We have to see this thing all the way through. Keep up with volunteering opportunities, stay on top of the news, and, most importantly, register to vote. The deadline to register in Pennsylvania is October 10th, just around the corner. Sestak is on the verge of a stunning upset, but he needs us down the home stretch. Let's finish this thing!
