This week, Ohio Gubernatorial candidate Kenneth Blackwell--a BLACK man--is bussing around southern Ohio with white supremacist fellow traveler Larry Pratt!!!
(Sorry Florida and Pennsylvania. Despite Foley, Harris and Allen, I think my own state of Ohio now claims the craziest politician trophy!)
My thanks goes to the Pluderbund blog for finding this, here, where we read:
Early Thursday morning, after tonight's Ken Blackwell-Ted Strickland debate at the University of Cincinnati is but a pleasant memory, Blackwell will board a bus in Cincinnati for a three-day tour of southern and southeast Ohio, smack dab in the heart of Strickland's present and former congressional districts.
Joining him on the 13-stop tour will be Larry Pratt, president of Gun Owners of America. Apparently, Pratt and Blackwell will be toting rifles, as the three-day trip ends Saturday afternoon with a "Cowboy Shoot"...
Not mentioned in the article is Pratt's white supremacist ties. For those check out the Southern Poverty Law Center, where we learn that Pratt is so racist and anti-semitic, that Pat Buchanan kicked Pratt off his 1996 Presidential campaign.
Blackwell's ties to white surpremists will come as no surprise to DKOS readers, who may recall this incident.
And Blackwell being a nut can be attested to by no less a personage than George W. Bush, who (according to Woodward's new book, State of Denial, page 347) in 2004, when told by Rove they were awaiting voting results from Blackwell in Ohio, said: "I'm the president of the United States, waiting on a secretary of state who is a nut.'' (Also see Renee's Diary, from which I stole the pix.)
Fortunately, Blackwell's opponent, Ted Strickland is so far ahead in the polls, he probably does not require a lot of help right now (knock on wood), but maybe email this dairy to any holdouts you know of in Ohio. (Every family has holdouts.)
BTW, there ARE candidates here in Ohio who do need your support, such as Mary Jo Kilroy OH-15, who is neck in neck with Deborah Pryce, despite Pryce's mega fund-raiser attended by Bush himself. Or how about Mean Jean's opponent, Vic Wulson OH-02.
