According to the WaPo, on of Al Weed's staffer was fired the other day for referring to George Allen as "Macacawitz". More on the flip...
Personally, I am glad she got canned. Over the last few weeks, I have read (with astonishment) the various nicknames Kossacks have called Allen. I have to admit that Macacawitz irked me the most.

I knew that this would eventually happen. Look, Allen is a complete tool, and not the sharpest one I might add. He clearly has issues with non-white people. He is obviously conflicted about his Jewish ancestry (what was the deal with that bizarre comment about eating a Ham Sandwich for lunch???)
DailyKos has long been one of my favorite web sites, I have been here for a good long time, and for the most part I have enjoyed the informed debates, playful digs, and even the Pie Fights. But the ridiculous name calling of Allen lately has been a real turn-off. The nickname Macacawitz, I am sure, was intended to mock Allen but what it did was just show how insensitive some of us Kossacks are.
I don't even really know how to articulate what I am saying. I am ashamed of myself for not protesting directly to the posters who used the nickname.
Bottom line: The more we use nicknames with ethnic or gender overtones, the less credible we, as a community, will become.
