In a stunning statement that appeared in a sidebar to a related story in the Danville
Register-Bee, Virgil Goode (R-MZM) claims that it was right that Clinton was impeached, but since Mark Foley is already gone, and since he sees no felony having occured, Hastert should continue.
Rep. Virgil Goode, R-5th, said based on what he knows now, he does not think Hastert should step down.
"He [Hastert] said in his statement he was glad Foley resigned and if he hadn't resigned then he would have asked him to."
"He [Clinton] lied under oath and should have been impeached," Goode said. "I don't have any evidence that anyone committed a felony. Foley may have. I'm not sure of the law in Florida, but he's already gone."

If this isn't a clear enough sign that we can't afford Republicans like Virgil Goode anymore, I don't know what is. He is a part of the do-nothing Congress, that has obstructed any real reform and tried to execute the war 'on the cheap'.
When was the last time you heard Virgil Goode talk about what a burden it is for the families in his district that are suffering from having a loved one overseas? When was the last time you heard Virgil talk about anything other than the 'party line' with concern to Iraq?
I know one thing he has done. He voted to cut in half the funding for research into the #1 injury in Iraq: TBI (Trauamatic Brain Injury). When veterans asked Mr. Goode to please cooperate in this life-saving and life-changing research, he responded by voting 'aye' on the cut in funding, down to $7 million (from $19 million).
Right here, to your left, is what Virgil Goode has been doing in Congress. Sucking up to defense contractors that by far gave him the most cash of anyone in his campaign two years ago, and are still listed this year as having contributed over $57,000. Goode gave the money away, but the stench still survives. Ask people in the 5th District if they can name one thing Virgil has done in the last ten years since he has been in office. MZM? Please.
End Virgil Goode's career politician behavior by electing Al Weed.
