Rove - Crazy Evil Karl (CEK) isn't the only one who can come up with major disruption ideas. In fact, they everywhere once you open your mind to them and as I was smoking a Saturday night cigar and listening to the quite of the night, one came to me.
Of course, the thing with evil ideas is that they can backfire, they can used by the other side and once the idea gets out in the universe, they can take on life of their own. So take care, all you FLA folks for what follows can be used every where, not just in FLA.
Keep it secret, just between us dem's unless you are willing to see it through.
I've been mediating on a diary post a while back about Wisconsin and the idea of starting a recall effort against the County Exec for trying to short the number of ballot in the inner city are of Milwaukee. It was just something this guy stated he thought the folks in Milwaukee county should do. But as I thought about it, it was a genius idea.
Now in FLA you have the governor, sworn to uphold and protect the rights of Floridians and to adhere and enforce federal and state laws. Is there ANYONE, anywhere who believes he has done that with voter rights? Is there anyone who believes he has taken all reasonable steps to insure ALL Floridians have the ability to exercise their right to VOTE in just a couple of weeks?
So we all know he's not following his sworn duty. So why wait until his term "normally" ends? Start an immediate recall of the governor. But the biggest problem with any recall effort is getting enough voter signatures within the time frame. In between voting cycles this is a huge obstacle. But, as Sun Tzu would note, take advantage of what you can do when the time is right. November 2 is the right time. I think Tzu would call it the node.
If a group of folks in FLA filed the paper work on a recall within the next week, they could then use poll watchers and other groups outside of the voting areas to collect signatures. Since people will be VOTING, there should be little effort to round up the signatures needed to force a recall. So the attempt to collect signatures could defiantly be completed by say, Nov 6th, within the time frame for valid signature collection.
Even though this would seem to be another "drain" on the resources of the effort to get Kerry into the WH, it wouldn't because all you need is 1) people at the polls collecting signatures and 2) coordination to get those signatures to the capitol It would actually serve the purpose of disrupting the FLA republicans as valuable money and resources would immediately be needed to confront the effort.
If the signatures are collected, it would throw open a whole new effort of Jeb to keep his seat and require massive amounts of his war chest to stay in office. Depending on the republican party, he might even face internal fights to keep the office. Credible Dem candidates would be able to run WITHOUT losing their current seat! If he wins, he has still depleted his cash to fight the effort and would need to make up ground in the next cycle. If he loses, well a new governor would take office.
Just a cigar idea but you know what, it would be fitting that the fight for FLA and against the Bush brothers continued after the efforts to put KE04 in the WH.
My only concern is - God, I hope this isn't a repetive diary entry :-)
