This is important... a secret small hour musing for two types of people, American Insomniacs and the rest of the world... though actually it's already 7am on the East Coast so you guys are just early risers (and morning netters).
I just saw the best commercial ever.
It is an ad for Holiday Inn, who I will probably be told is an evil corporation bent on world destruction and pays 80% of its political contributions to fascists and wolverines, but not the nice sort of wolverines, the bad sort.
...
A guy is sitting at a computer and whale song is playing, I thought it was just sound track, but he is playing it from the computer, because another guy walks to the doorway and he says, paraphrased, "the majestic whale song, nature's public speaker." Then a pause. Then he starts to do a whale song himself... it's a bit awkward. But then the other guy starts doing it and the first guy get enthused by that. Then the anouncer says blah blah blah about Holiday Fucking Inn (just in case they fund some terrible thing, as I'm certain to find out in the near future)
Now if you don't see why this is political, then God help you, though I myself am an atheist. Regardless, irregardless isn't a word, but that really appealed to me. It won't make me go to Holiday Inn, however, because I don't relate the creativity of that ad to the business. The purpose is served though as kids grow up knowing the brand of Holiday Inn and people like me don't think they went out of business in 1989 even though I stayed in one in the 90s.
It should sweep the nation, people doing whale song.
Which by the way I loved in Nemo when Elen Degenerous talked "whale". That joke does not get old.
