As you know, I am highly motivated to see Republican Congressman Peter King swept out of Long Island because, well, because he's such an asshole!

But many said I was titling at windmills.  People that said that King -- a fourteen year veteran of machine politics -- had a lock on his district that even an impressive challenger like legislator Dave Mejias couldn't overcome.  Sadly, people said, we'd have to deal with Peter King bloviating on Fox news about Rush Limbaugh's issue du jour for years to come.

Guess again.  From the Constituency Dynamics poll:

King (R) 48
Mejias (D) 46

King is under 50%, and Mejias is within the margin of error.  Mejias is going to win this one.  The asshole is going down.

One problem though -- King has a huge cash advantage.  It's not an insurmountable problem, though, so long as Mejias raises enough money so that he can get his message out and so people know who he is.

That's why I'm going to ask you to contribute to Mejias's ActBlue fund. Please click HERE, and give Mejias some help.  Even a $25 donation is enough to cover a neighborhood with bumper stickers and lawn signs, which will tell voters who aren't paying attention that King has a credible opponent.  And these donations WILL make a difference.  This race is on a knife's edge, and the mother of all upsets is imminent. The asshole is going down!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
