Yes, I realize that this isn't political. I think it is interesting regardless and does have to do with government, so I thought I would post it. Might do us some good to have a little break from 24/7 election-think. Last night I attended a lecture by Robert Hastings. Hastings is a UFO expert who has spent 30 years researching UFO activity. I thought it was a very interesting lecture. He gave out some websites and keywords so that we could independently verify his information ourselves. I have done that and am writing a diary on the subject of UFOs.

Hastings argues that:

1.) UFOs have been exceptionally interested in our nuclear weapons programs; many UFO sightings took place around Los Alamos (nuclear research facility) in the New Mexico desert.  UFOs have been frequently sighted around missile launch, production, and maintenence facilities.
2.) UFO sightings at these military facilities have coincided with nuclear missiles malfunctioning (shutting down) temporarily while the UFO was around.
3.) Evidence strongly suggests that UFOs are extra-Earthly.

Before I continue, let me point out two things.  First of all, I am skeptical and so should everyone else.  A skeptic is merely someone who is willing to put aside all bias and objectively arrive at a reasonable conclusion.  So whether you think they do or don't exist, be skeptical either way.

Second, most of this evidence is anecdotal.  Anecdotal evidence is not as strong as physical evidence but can be strong evidence regardless.  This researcher's testimonies come directly from over 50 U.S. military personel interviews.  Most of them are retired and only went "on the record" because they did not want to take these secrets to their grave.  Most of them worked with nuclear technology and missle sites and so were highly scrutinized by the military to make sure they were in top mental condition.  The fact that the government trusted these people with nuclear weapons lends quite a bit of credibility to their story and mental health.

So what do the UFOs look like?  The consensus from eyewitness reports that I've read and from the lecturer is that UFOs are disk-shaped and emit white/yellow/red light.  They are metallic, and can manuever perfectly.  They can hover in place and move slowly like a helicopter and they can also move at incredible speeds and move in zig zag patterns.  This technology is above any known technology on Earth.  It certainly was above any conceivable technology in the 1940s.  If these craft HAD been part of the military (either USSR or USA probably) their existence would have almost definately been released by now because that technology would be obsolete at this point.

Here is an example of a UFO sighting by a military official.  It can be found at the CIA website and released through the FoIA.

SIGHTINGS OF UNIDENTIFIED FLYING OBJECTS Created: 10/25/1954

During excercises by an antiaircraft battery at Stavern, an unidentified flying object appeared in the sky directly in the line of fire and was observed through powerful binoculars by 50 officers and men.  The object was located at a considerable distance and at an angle of 30-40 degrees to the horizontal; it was round or slightly elliptical in shape, flat on the underside, and silvery on the upper side.  It moved up and down slowly for 7 minutes and then moved away at a speed estimated at several times the speed of sound.

In this next block of writing is incredibly interesting.  A military professional admits that a UFO was sighted around this Montana missle base.  The nuclear missiles shut down and had to be reactivated by this personel.  He also said that the military briefed him on UFO protocol-- whenever a UFO was around he had to go underground and be ready to reactivate the missiles until the UFOs left.  This same story is repeated by DOZENS of on-the-record military officials from various missile bases and all their testimony can be found at Robert Hasting's webpage.

Malmstrom AFB, Montana (1966-67):

1st Lt. Robert C. Jamison--Former USAF Minuteman ICBM targeting officer (Combat Targeting Team Commander), 341st Missile Maintenance Squadron, Malmstrom AFB, Montana:

Jamison states that he assisted in the re-start of an entire "flight" of ten Minuteman ICBMs which had simultaneously and inexplicably shut down immediately after a UFO was sighted in their vicinity by Air Force Security Police. Jamison is certain that the incident occurred at one of the missile flights located near Lewistown, Montana, perhaps Oscar Flight. This event probably occurred on the night of March 24/25, 1967, based on Jamison's portrayal of related events.

Comment: At least five other former or retired USAF personnel--all Minuteman missile launch officers stationed at Malmstrom AFB in 1967--have previously divulged their knowledge of UFO involvement in two separate, large-scale missile shutdown incidents. One of these individuals, former Deputy Missile Combat Crew Commander Robert Salas, has extensively investigated these events, together with researcher Jim Klotz. Their revealing summary of the March 1967 incidents may be found at:

Hastings speculated-- as well as the consensus opinion of the military officers he spoke with-- that the UFOs were "wagging their finger" at our nuclear program.  They were telling us either not to use them or that they would stop us in the event of a nuclear war.  Most of the military officials who speculated this said that it comforted them to think that we were being protected.

This next piece of evidence to me is the most fascinating.  This report was brought to Hoover's (FBI director in 1950) attention after an incident.  This official FBI report is considered by some to be a "smoking gun" of extra-terrestrial UFO activity, but since it is only a "report", it doesn't neccessarily physically prove anything.

The following information was furnished to SA (secret agent) [CENSORED] by [CENSORED].

An investigator for the Air Forces stated that three so-called flying saucers had been recovered in New Mexico.  They were described as being circular in shape with raised centers, approximately 50 feet in diameter.  Each one was occupied by three bodies of human shape but only 3 feet tall, dressed in metallic cloth of a very fine texture.  Each body was bandaged in a manner similar to the blackout suits used by speed flyers and test pilots.

According to Mr. [CENSORED]'s informant, the saucers were found in New Mexico due to the fact that the Government has a very high-powered radar set-up in that area and it is believed that the radar interferes with the controlling mechanism of the saucers.

Again, this report was addressed to "Director, FBI" which was J. Edgar Hoover at the time.  So it was important enough that the freaking head of the FBI was briefed on the situation!  I think it's just amazing.

The point of this diary is just to stretch your mind a little.  It is also to raise awareness that there are OFFICIAL government documents and testimony from highly reliable sources that strongly suggest that UFOs exist, they are interested in our nuclear program (amongst possibly other things), and they appear to be extra worldly.

Here are a few really good sites if you are interested in looking into it further or if you want to write a research paper for school or something.  The most reliable and believable evidence will proably come from FOIA government documents from the various agencies (CIA, FBI, NSA, etc.)

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
