I have a pet peeve. My pet peeve is that postage is not repaid on all election materials (voter registrations, absentee ballot requests, absentee ballots).
It seems to me to be a poll tax, if only a very small and insignifcant one. And you may not think that 37-74 cents is a lot of money but to some people it is. In a Congressman's office where I once interned, some people are so poor (usually becuasse they've been injured and havent received disabilty) that we needed to send the,m a stamp so they could send stuff back to us.
It seems to me that there a lot of barriers to voting in this country (Tuesday single day elections for instance) and that this is one of them. However, I doubt it would cost states that much to cover this (a few million maybe, tops). It may be the most modest proposal ever proposed on dkos, but its a place to start.
