They're at it again. This week, Let Freedom Ring Inc., a new right-wing fundraising group, began collecting money to "counter the millions of dollars being spent to attack and discredit President Bush by leftist organizations supported by billionaires, Hollywood liberals and others."
Meanwhile, just today, Republican Party Chairman Ed Gillespie, The Drudge Report and Fox News have been quick to stir up attention to an Associated Press story about some of our ACT canvassers. It's the same old tactic -- it's disgusting and so predictable. You can read ACT's full statement on our homepage at: http://www.actforvictory.org.
I'm writing to respond to these gross misrepresentations of our work, our supporters and, most importantly, our canvassers. And I urge you to stand with me today.

Since opening the doors of the first ACT state office in Ohio last fall, early supporters have helped build the foundation for the largest voter mobilization effort in history.
Today, from over 40 field offices in key states, ACT is working every day to ensure that wherever Bush's lies go -- the truth goes with them. Your active support ensures that the Republican spin machine is countered at every step, every day.
For example, just the other day when President Bush was visiting Ohio, hundreds of our canvassers and local volunteers were there to greet him. On the same day, The Media Fund ran radio and print messages throughout the state highlighting the failures of Mr. Bush's policies and how they impact that state.
Please learn more about our strategy and help fuel it during the critical months ahead:

ACT is doing so much more then greeting President Bush and his Republican allies at campaign stops. Every day, over 1,400 trained canvassers go door-to-door meeting the voters in battleground states who will decide our future in federal, state and local elections. Canvassers come from all over, are of all ages and backgrounds. They are patriotic citizens, doing honest work and making a real difference every day.
ACT is training a new generation of organizers and empowering them to work for change in the 2004 elections (and beyond). So far, these canvassers have reached over 2,000,000 targeted households. In the targeted states, ACT's effort is the most powerful counter to the Republicans and their network of special interests and support groups. The Republicans know it, they see our progress -- and so they're on the attack. That's why it is so important that we all stand up to them today.
Please forward this message on to everyone you know and ask them to join you in supporting ACT today.
Let Freedom Ring Inc. is just another attempt to raise money and secure votes from the GOP's religious-right base. And the comments about our canvassing operations are just a way of spreading fear and discouraging participation and support.
The 2004 elections are now just 130 days away. I urge you to play a role in what ACT is doing every single day and help election Democrats to federal, state and local elections everywhere.
Right now, pledging your financial support is critical - $50, $100, or whatever you can afford. It translates into targeted outreach and activism where it's needed most. But also use your voice, your feet and your passion for change.
Take the time to learn more about ACT, meet our canvassers and stand up to demonstrate the power of ACTion.
