I thought I'd seen it all. But the latest ad from Republican candidate Vernon Robinson in NC-13 just blew my mind. All we need to do is run this guy's ads in all the districts followed by our candidate saying "Are these the kind of people you want running our country? I'm
___ and I approve this message".
Link to the latest ad plus a few more below...
I ran into this first one purely through happenstance. I was browsing through
CQ Politics reading about how they're now seeing a deja vue from 1994 in the articles they're writing and the numbers they're predicting. That was all quite interesting and I'd recommend checking out
the article and the accompanying
ratings chart (PDF file).
But then I scrolled down the front page to the next story, talking about negative ads and this paragraph caught my eye:
"Americans are under attack from Islamic extremists in every corner of the world. Homosexuals are mocking holy matrimony, and the lesbians and feminists are attacking everything sacred. Liberal judges have completely rewritten the Constitution," a narrator intones against the eerie theme song of the old "Twilight Zone" TV show in a television ad airing in the North Carolina district represented by Democratic Rep. Brad Miller. His long-shot challenger, Republican Vernon Robinson, appears at the end of the ad, promising to send those "realities" back to the Twilight Zone.
My jaw dropped, my eyes widened, and this look of abjectly absurd hilarity stretched across my face. Or so I imagine (not having had a mirror present). I immediately went to YouTube and searched.
And what to my wondering eyes should appear, but that crazy old ad full of vitriol and fear.
You can view it here.
Then I'd recommend checking out ScrewySquirrel's diary: NC-13, Vernon Robinson is BatShit Crazy! as well as bkaufma's diary: Vernon Robinson: Gargantuan Nutbag.
Next, you've just gotta check out a few more of his campaign ads. They are truly priceless.
The one focusing on illegal immigrants
A recording of one of his phone message ads
Vernon Robinson on Faux News discussing the Twilight Zone ad
The ad beyond description
The mariachi radio ad
Lastly, from yesterday comes Anglico's diary: Updated: Redstate Founder Endorses Brad Miller for Congress! pointing out that one of the Redstate founders endorsed ole Vern's Democrat opponent Brad Miller one of our own Kossacks.
So check out the videos and have a good laugh courtesy of the Republican party. It's nice to know they're good for something. Who knows, maybe after they lose the House and Senate we can get them a deal for a show on Comedy Central? "The Out of Power Insanity Hour with your hosts: Kenny, Felix, and Vern" perhaps?
