Last tuesday, I typed up a litle
diary noting that the NRCC had dumped $1,684,477.62 into the race against
Zack Space since september. The NRCC have been dumping money into this race so fast, in fact that I had barely finished my diary before they had dumped in another 12k. Well since a week had gone by, I thought it was time to revisit the state of the NRCC money pit.
NRCC cash infusion:
Total increase in spending by the NRCC on this race since last tuesday $709,036.98! That is exactly 70% of the money that the NRSC pulled from the DeWine race. I know the two aren't related but it's worth pointing out for scale measure. Bringing the total NRCC expediture in the last 6 weeks to $2,393,514.60 (source) I'm sure that Zack Space would be happy to have a few bucks to help level the playing field.
Current polling:
A new RT Strategies/Constituent Dynamics poll has Space leading Padgett 51 to 42 percent. That poll had 987 respondents, and a margin of error of 3.1 percent. source
If you navigate the flash direct results here are the direct results.
The previous Zogby (phone) poll on the race had Space leading 45 percent to 36 percent.
While the numbers are good currently. Zack Space can certainly use the funds to keep up the fight. His opponent Joy Padgett is about as low as you can go having in a past race called long-time Hezbollah hostage Terry Anderson a terrorist sympathizer. We really don't need her in the House.
The District Media:
This has been pointed out before so I thought I should mention it here for clarity. This CD was gerrymandered to keep an incumbent in place, luckily for us Ney got greedy and had to step out of the race. To effectively advertise in this CD, you need to hit the following markets. Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati, Youngstown, Akron/Canton, Wheeling and Zanesville. Only one of those markets is actually in the CD and that is Zanesville which does have it's own Television stations. That is part of the reason why the NRCC is spending so heavily here, they realize that if they lose this district, they may not be able to regain it until Zack Space decides to retire.
I've repeated the poll from last week, the are already leaving the ~2 million response in the dust and the ONE Brazillain dollars is looking more realistic every day. We can't just count on winning this race as they have definately not given up on it. So if you can spare a few bucks please consider giving to Zack Space.
