Here is an email I just sent to 2 groups of high school classmates and a bunch of other friends...probably close to 200 people. Of course, some will not like it.
Democrats have been very polite in the last 35 years. We listened to Agnew call us effete snobs. We were clubbed and maced by Nixon's riot police in DC. We saw how Reagan turned liberal into a dirty word and turned our tax policy into Christmas for the very wealthy. We saw George H. W. Bush (41) presto-chango go from being a former president of Planned Parenthood to becoming a "right to life" advocate. He learned that if you put on a religious show for the more religious in this country, even though you are lying to them, you can get their endorsement. We saw how scumbags like Ralph Reed, the one time head of the Christian Coalition was just another Republican with a gimmick. We saw the Republicans immobilize our government so they could attack Clinton about a private affair with a 22 year old woman.
more, jump over
We allowed a grossly negligent George W. Bush do nothing when our country was warned about an attack and then lie us into a war that killed enough people for him to be charged with war crimes yet NOT even a glimmer of a word about impeachment.
We are forced to see and hear, because they fill and dominate the air waves and radio waves like cockroaches, some of the worst human beings on the planet like Ann Coulter (for whom I have a special word that I'd never use in an email), Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly...who can name them all. My Republican friends, the more moderate ones, do nothing to rid their party of such despicable spokespersons and many of them really like them. This morning, I heard Imus say on his show that it wouldn't be terrible if Hillary was president. So, what did Michael Graham say, a conservative talk show host from Boston, "If I had to choose from the fat Elvis, Kim Jong Il or the fat bitch Hillary Clinton for president, I'd choose the fat Elvis."
It's time to stop being so polite and it is time to get visibly angry and disgusted and not just among ourselves. All we do is preach to the choir. Instead, we should be expressing to everyone, our revulsion about the worst president in the history of the Republic. It's time to call these Republican politicians (note that I said politicians, note voters) what they are, without fear of who we are going to offend. It's time! When the arrogant and loud Republican in the room out shouts everyone, you wait for him or her to be finished and then you say what's on your mind, no matter what the reaction. It is time to stop repressing all your anger and ultimately get the government back in the hands of people who care.
Don't let anyone tell you that you're a communist, a socialist or a traitor. I think there is nothing more beautiful than pure capitalism. However, the kinds of capitalism the Republicans want is neither pure, fair or logical. They want pyramid and ponzi schemes. They want them way up and everyone else way down. They are too selfish to understand that WE ALL benefit when everyone does well. Keeping a minimum wage at $5.15 an hour because they know that there is a non stop supply of illegal aliens who will take part time jobs with no benefits at that rate is not anywhere near what a free market is. Plus, the imbeciles cut their noses off to spite their faces because at $5.15 an hour, people cannot be giving American business a target market to sell anything to but food and clothing.
There are three very important and very close Senate races that are necessary for the Democrats to win to take over the Senate. We must take over the Senate and the House to stop Bush and Cheney in their little GI Joes games and to prevent them from ruining the courts for the rest of our children's lives. Right now projections are telling us that it's a tie 50-50 which means Dick Cheney will break all ties. If any of you are comfortable with that, disregard the rest of this message. Quite frankly, the thought of that makes me nauseous.
In this first race, there is Republican incumbent George Felix "Macacca" Allen who is about as slimy as they come. Besides being a bigot, he once stuffed a deer's head in a mailbox of a black family. This man was touted to be the next and best Republican presidential candidate for 2008.
His opponent, Jim Webb, was Secretary of the Navy under Ronald Reagan. He was a Republican but switched. He's brilliant but a little dull sounding. He's a terrific guy who tells the truth, he is tough and has the kind of background that will be a great asset to the Senate.

In Tennessee, Congressman Harold Ford, Jr. is running for the vacated seat of the Senate Majority Leader, Bill Frist. Ford is about as fair and bi-partisan as any Democrat I have ever seen. Sometimes I believe he gives the Republicans too much credit but he is a wonderful person and also very worldly and intelligent, everything George W. Bush is not. He would be the first African American elected to the Senate from the South.

Ned Lamont is running against Joe Lieberman. Joe Lieberman loves the Iraq war and he cut the legs out from under Democrats when they wanted to filibuster against Sam Alito, Janice Rogers Brown, and Patricia Owens by forming the gang of 12 Senators who unless a Supreme Ct. or Appeals Ct. nominee was a member of the Nazi Party they would join the Cloture vote to stop any filibuster. Plus for those of you who watched his lovefest with Cheney in 2000 when he was supposed to be debating him, you know we have to get rid of Lieberman. Ned Lamont is a terrific guy, good businessman and will make a great Senator who is not up the rear end of George W. Bush.

For those of you who are offended by this email, get over it because there will be more coming from everywhere you turn. People all over are pissed off and are beginning to have the courage to speak. Of course, you have every right to argue for your candidates too. I don't know about anyone else, but I will read what everyone writes because I care what you all have to say even if I don't agree with you.
