Apparently Judith Miller is getting a lot of mail in jail. She's answering most of it with a form letter that mentions that her hand is tired and they won't let her have a typewriter. Since she's in jail to coerce her to talk, and not technically as a punishment, would it be appropriate to allow her to continue to write?
Heck, with not much else to do, she might be a prolific blogger. And the idea of blogging from prison has some interesting attractions. It might shine enough light on what goes on to make them a more humane place.
BUT, the idea has an ugly-look-in-the-mirror implication, too. For those of us who've become internet and blog addicts, the idea that most of what we do could be done from prison is a tad disturbing. Maybe I should get out more?
Anyway, should Judith Miller, assuming she's a model prisoner who would not attempt to escape, be partly silenced by the very attempt to make her talk?
