Hey folks,
I live out here in beautiful Oakland and we're smack in the middle of a thunderstorm right now. The lightning is really cool in a scary sort of way. The whole sky lights up, there's an eerie silence, and then a thunderous roar that shakes my apartment.
I have to admit that even though it's sort of thrilling to feel the thunder rock my entire apartment building (and the block), it's a bit frightning in a sub-liminal, reptillian kind of way (kinda like "big noise = scary").
As I was sitting here reading the latest on Kos, and wondering if the storm would knock my power out it suddenly hit me. What if instead of thunder I was hearing bombs. More specifically, precision muntions dropped by planes. Yep, that would make the entire thing a whole lot less thrilling and a whole lot more terrifying.
I wish that everytime we had a T-storm people would think of civilians, precision munitions, the war in Iraq, and collateral damage.
