One of Congress' longest lasting members, Duncan Hunter (CA-52), may have just run out of flava'.

I live in CA-52.  John Rinaldi is the Democrat candidate running for Hunter's seat.  He sent me an email filled with hope and uplifting news...

Hunter is now officially linked with the Duke of Disgrace, Cunningham.

Come rejoice with me below...

Dear Friends,

Insider information. Tax evasion. And now the dots are connected in a way that is far too reminiscent of San Diego's turmoil with Randy "Duke"  Cunningham.

The Department of Justice unsealed a lawsuit that names Duncan Hunter and Brent Wilkes of ADCS -- the same Brent Wilkes who was named the co-conspirator of Cunningham -- in assigning a government contract of paper to computer documentation conversion.

The Department of Justice explained that the allegations state that two San Diego Representatives, Cunningham and Duncan Hunter, pushed a defense contract through Congress to ADCS which was incapable of fulfilling the requirements.  ADCS and Brent Wilkes were top contributors to Duke Cunningham's campaigns, and remain among the top contributors to Duncan Hunter.

In fact, in official documents, Pentagon officials name Duncan Hunter as a partner in Cunningham's actions to create the program, a $9.7 million contract that was never requested by the military.  The Pentagon's inspector general has testified that this project was not requested, and was never necessary.

Friends, we have three weeks to get our message out to the voters so that those in the 52nd District know that Duncan Hunter is on the same path as Cunningham -- straight to jail.

Contribute now so that we can get that message out to the voters.  The last thing our District, the last thing our nation needs, is another extremely expensive special election.

Now more than ever, Duncan Hunter is vulnerable.  November 7 will be our day.  It will not be a day for Republicans or Democrats. It will be a day for hard-working, honest Americans!

Your Friend,
John Rinaldi

(Emphasis mine)

FYI, I live in CA-52 and this is wonderful news considering Hunter has been sitting comfortably since Reagan was elected.  Let's toss the old bag before we're saddled with the same crap CA-50 has had to endure.

We could use help if you live near our district and would greatly appreaciate it. (Another FYI, my gf and I walked for 7 hours before Busby's first attempt in the special election, please return the favor).

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

I hate what Duncan Hunter has done as one of our California Congress people and I want him defeated, so I've backed my passion with some dough.

Even though we all know that the Hunter will slide right over into his lobbiest job the day he leaves office, I still want him out.

Too bad the smell of his corruption and inept representation will linger like the half life of a dirty bomb.

If we can't beat Hunter, then I hope he drops dead of a painful heart attack while out stalking big game and then gets eaten by Wolverines.

What a wonderful world it would be...

It isn't just that the incumbent is a lousy human being, and corrupt.

Our own guy, John Rinaldi, is also a damn fine Democrat who will make one of the really outstanding freshman Congressmen in the class of 2007, if we can just get him in.

I'm proud to support him at:

Not only do I enjoy sticking the fork in Hunter's backside, but I was proud to donate to John Rinaldi who is indeed much more than just the Democrat alternative.

He's the right man, at the right time for this job that needs someone from the caring, intelligent, human being side of the political sphere.

Duncan Hunter's deceitful hiding of the true value of his residential property in SoCal probably isn't enough of a scandal to cause an uproar given all the other scandals that keep breaking (and apparently there always needs to be sex involved for a scandal to be "big").  However, if I were a homeowner in the San Diego area and paying my fair share of RE taxes and then read that my Congresscritter is cutting corners in a serious way and was in essence cheating on his tax bill ... that should resonate with voters who have an open mind about who they are going to vote for.

Hunter's shennanigans should also prompt the question: if Duncan Hunter is willing to cheat on his residential tax bill what else is he willing to cheat on?  That sounds like a nice 15 second attack ad that could prove very effective.

Given all the dirty laundry that came out with the Dukestir, I just have to believe that if we really had an aggressive investigation by an independent counsel (like Fitzgerald) instead of relying on the Bush DOJ, that the Big Three from SoCal (Jerry Lewis, Duncan Hunter and Cunningham) would all go down.  The idea that it was just Cunningham doesn't pass the smell test for me.

I smell a rat in Hunter.  He's already shown his stripes as a man who will do and say anything to enrich the Military Industrial Complex.

I don't believe he gives a damn about anyone who will not line his pockets.

I don't believe he cares about the troops at all.

I don't believe a word Duncan Hunter says.

      Liar.  Thief.  Crook.  Destroyer.

In other words, the typical Republican in office today.

Judge them all by their actions and the results of those actions.

Hunter is a nasty punk who deserves to serve a few back to back tours in Iraq with subpar body armor set in one of those unimproved Humvees.

He should be forced to "fight them over there" and stop screwing us over here.
