This diary started as a specific posted diary but has turned into something that I just keep adding to as new Bell/Rowson cartoons become available.
If you are new to Steve Bell, he takes a little getting use to. Bush is primarily depicted as a ape and blair sometimes as a dog (lap dog). You can tell Blair because his left eye is always bulging.
From the start of the Iraq conflict these two cartoonist have cut through all the crap anc chronicled the whole bloody mess.
Enjoy.
As usual, you can catch them at
The Guardian.
Here the Commander and Chimp is wired up for the signing of the G.W. Bush Torture Bill.
The 'Comander and Chimp' ... ahem ... clears the air regarding nu-klear N. Korean testing and proliferation
The British Coalition has shrunk from 40,000 to around 6,500 and Tony after a spat this week with his head General (who said it's time to withdraw) tries to stem the tide.
Tony one ups Bush in expressing his position on staying the course. The Guradian caption reads "How Iraq changed Blair" but you need to be a long time reader to notice that 'the lap dog' has grown Bush's ape like hands and is turning in to 'The Chimp'
A senior U.S. State Department diplomat stated that there is a strong possibility history will show the United States displayed "arrogance" and "stupidity" in its handling of the Iraq war. Here Steve Bell picks up on the Story:
Having to choose between a host of bad options, GW offers yet another strategy
All that education and still dumb as dirt
This was Steve Bell's lead-in cartoon citing a study that concluded the British public thought Bush was more of a threat than Kim Jong-Il
Martin Rowson gives us Tommy [sic] Blair and GW Bush playing hangman. Its 'Total Disaster' a day after Saddam's Verdict is announced and a day before the US midterm elections.
And as usual comes my commercial:
It's calling cards. I could get into a long discussion why someone who's making minimum wage and just has had 2 legs blown off needs to pay for phone calls home to Mom but I won't. The facts are that calling cards are really needed and they mean a lot to a young man or woman trying to recover from this insane war.
What I'd like to ask you to do is send calling cards to:
Walter Reed Medical Family Assistance Center (MEDFAC)
6900 Georgia Ave., NW
Washington, DC 20307-5001
(202) 782-2071 or toll free 1-866-546-1310,
BLDG. 2, Third Floor, Room 3E01.
I called MEDFAC and asked what was the best way to do this. The MEDFAC can't accept cash/check. They can receive the calling cards. I was advised that only AT&T and MCI don't expire.
AT&T cards can be bought at the Post Office, Sams/Wallmart, Eckhard, Best Buy or Office Depot. They Come in $10, $20 and $30 cards that give approximately 100, 200 and 300. minutes. MCI calling cards can be obtained at CostCo.
I know this isn't as easy as a two-click and entering your Visa number. But if you're near one of the above outlets in the coming days and weeks leading up to the Holidays, I can't think of a gift that would be more appreciated.
Other ideas and ways to help can be found at the Support Our Troops site and the Wounded Warrior Project site.
Thank you.
