The last few days have been busy for the Katz campaign. A few things that are going on in our Northeast Ohio district:
1. Lew has been running radio ads on major radio stations covering the district for a few weeks. His latest one is excellent, tying Lyin' Steve LaTourette to Abramoff, Delay, and Ney. You can hear it here.
2. The Cleveland Plain Dealer endorsed Lyin' Steve LaTourette yesterday, citing his saving defense jobs in the area and his bipartisanship. Strange that they forgot to mention his broken promises: I won't vote for CAFTA, I won't vote for the lousy Bush budget bill, I'll only run for four terms, etc. etc.). The Katz campaign sent out an email urging all supporters to write the Plain Dealer and other newspapers with their frustration:
We need all our volunteers to write letters to the editors of your local papers in order to make it clear to people that the residents of the 14th District do not agree with the endorsements of Steve LaTourette. An endorsement of any Republican in the Federal Government is an endorsement for the Bush Administration and its failed prosecution of the Iraq war. We appreciate all your help and with your continued support, we can turn the 14th District Blue!
You can reach the Plain Dealer at letters@plaind.com.
3. Lew Katz will be on the radio Monday morning, October 23rd at 7:40 a.m. Tune-in to 105.7 FM and hear Lew go toe-to-toe with popular radio show hosts Lanigan and Malone. Majic 105.7 plays music from the 60's and 70's and is a popular radio station here.
4. Our efforts to bring Lyin' Steve LaTourette to Hiram have failed. Dino Desanto, LaTourette's campaign manager, has refused to return any of our phone calls inviting LaTourette to campus. And when I say "we" I am also referring to Republican leaders in the community who would love to see LaTourette here. The LaTourette campaign is VERY confident, so much so that they feel they can ignore Northern Portage County. Republicans here are not happy with the snub.
5. When I drive my kids to preschool, I see 18 Katz signs from my door to the school in the five minutes it takes to get there -- and 0 LaTourette signs. How does the rest of the district look?
