My dear friend Kathleen Murphy--an ace journalist now writing for Stateline.org--had an exclusive interview with Gen. Wesley Clark. It's a great interview:

I asked Kathleen if she'd give me an exclusive tidbit, even if it was minor. She shared a line that was vintage Clark--almost distressingly enthusiastic. (It's on my blog at http://www.isebrand.com.)
Being an army commander has given Clark an unusually strong disposition toward Perpetual Motivation--perhaps a bit like your old high school football coach (not necessarily a good thing.) But, at least it's genuine!
I've watched Clark work a crowd closely and have recently met him. If nothing else, he's damn smart (very! smart), a FAST study, and just a genuinely "up" guy. I think he basically does still believe that people are generally good and well-intentioned. To emerge from a military career without absolutely dripping with cynicism is itself quite an accomplishment.
