The new Republican Ad (
http://www.boston.com/...) running on CNN (and other networks?) presents a massive opportunity for the Democrats. The ad chooses to portray Osama Bin Laden, his lieutenants and followers as current threats that only the Republicans are qualified to fight.
The challenge is this:
can the Democrats muster the focus and backbone to show the same ad?
The same ad with the following copy would be a step (huge leap?) in the right direction:
"These men are responsible for September 11. Ever since that terrible day these men have been issuing the gravest threats against America. These men still walk the earth and plot to do us harm because George W. Bush and his cronies decided to go to Iraq and make fortunes by funneling our tax dollars into each others' pockets. Let's elect men and women that have worn the uniforms, fired the weapons, dodged the bullets and buried their buddies. Let's elect men and women that know how to do the job. Let's elect men and women that know the course instead of just talking about it year after year after costly year." Something like that.
Will the Dems. have the stones to finally step up, get on the field and strike back or will they yet again remain on the sidelines and respond by putting their hands on their hips and rolling their eyes while America has to go with the Republicans because at least they present something resembling a backbone?
