The AP is reporting that former Enron CEO Jeffrey Skilling has been sentenced to over 24 years for his corporate fraud that resulted in the loss of loads of jobs, $60B in Enron stock, and worst of all, $2B in employee pensions. Former Enron CFO Andrew Fastow got only 6 years after cooperating with the govt vs Skilling.
District Judge Lake ordered Skilling to home confinement, where he has to wear an ankle monitor. The U.S. Bureau of Prisons will recommend when Skilling has to show up at the klink. Skilling asked for bond but was shot down. Good for the judge.
This is great, especially considering that Skilling had been consistently saying he was an innocent man and attempting to show some remorse. This MFer is such a piece of crud. He was outrightly arrogant when he first starting getting Qs back in 2001. Dude is 52, so unless he weasels out for good behavior, he'll be in until 76. Good riddance, and unfortunately it does no damn good for the hordes of Enron employees he F'ed.
