Peace, fellow Democrats of all ages. We are in this together: this fight for democracy, equality and a return to humanity. We all want to see the Bush Administration held accountable. We all want a Democratic Congress and President.
Let's stop the attacks.
http://www.dailykos.com/... This is not personal.
We are all just trying to figure out why there is not a wide, massive and visible on every channel- OUTCRY from millions of Americans- in response to the utter disaster that is the Bush Administration.
Here is what we have seen from Bush:
-The integrity of our elections in question.
-Failure to prevent 9-11.
-Torture and the failure by the US to uphold Geneva.
-The attack on another country by the US- unprovoked.
-The US occupation of another country.
-The use of lies to justify a war.
-The illegal spying on Americans.
-Thousands of American soldiers lives lost.
-National debt at 8,455,275,190,344.45.
-Katrina: total failure to respond for 5 days.
-Unprecedented profits of Oil Companies.
-Escalating Climate Crisis ignored.
(Please feel free to add to this.)
It would seem that all of the above would be enough to have us all screaming mad and demanding justice.
We do have some great leaders out there showing us how progress is made and how good fight is fought: Cindy Sheehan, Al Gore, Howard Dean, Barack Obama, Markos Moulitsas... (to name a few). But "leadership" with the small "l" is very important as well. This can come from our parents, teachers, peers, co-workers- anyone in our lives. This involves both active listening and the ability to respectfully voice opinions.
And this seems to be missing.
There is so much that we agree on. It just seems that we are all so angry, fearful of being blamed and seriously depressed by the state of our democracy. It is all so overwhelming and we have become stunned to the point of inertia: young and old. But we have to break out of this by volunteering, protesting, strengthing our message and showing eachother more respect. How do we win voters over? How do we changes the minds of our republican friends,co-workers, in-laws? What is the best way to create change? How do we convince people to care about the poor? How do we get people to see, as Cindy asks, that "our hearts are connected"? These are converstaions I hope we can have here.
