Like all of us, I have been anxiously following the upcoming elections. This site has been a great source of information in the past two election cycles (also, a hat tip should go to Taegan Goddard, who gives great raw numbers type stories and links) I feel cautiously optimistic. However, a lot of the content on here I find somewhat unsettling. I do realize that some of these diaries and comments may be by RNC trolls and the like, but most of them are probably not. From here on in, I am begging and pleading for all Kossacks to keep their eyes on the proverbial prize.
With that in mind, here's my plea:
1. No more "sky is falling" diaries. Someone wrote a diary sunday that really riled me about the Terror ad and how it was basically going to shift the plate techtonics in two weeks. I also don't like the Rove diaries. Karl Rove is not an all powerful creature. He's lost elections. He's just one man. Don't make him larger than life. He can't make North Korea test nukes. Sometimes, unfortunatet things happen. Deal with them. I've also never understood the logic behind the "So and So is being Swiftboated Diaries" that simply regurgitate the smear and offer no rebuttal. I am guessing that stuff is troll bait, but sometimes I am not so sure.
2. No more "Diebold will steal it" diaries. I am not unconcerned about this, but quite frankly, there isn't anything we can do before the fact anyway. All these diaries do is make us look like we are making an excuse for losing.
3. Keep it positive. Its a little too late to be trashing candidates that we don't like 100%. (Bob Casey comes to mind here) We've got the candidates we've go.
4. Let's not waste diary space. At this point, we dont' need to hear about Jimmy Kimmel, the Red Sox, how sick your aunt is. It may sound cold, but we need to be pushing our candidates, rebutting smears, pimping good poll numbers etc. The other stuff can wait until after the election.
