"...look through history, military conquest is the best way of dealing with issues, exp. in todays generation with civilian casualites at a minimum... if only politicians would let the military do its job..."
Here's some highlights of the debate going on:

"sepp - you make a good point. i'm a pacifist in general, but agree that there are times when brute force is warranted - genocides are a perfect example.
but i feel that war has become the default solution rather than the last resort in global conflicts. it has turned into a method that power-mongers often use for their own gain. it's time to change the way we use and view war."

"I can tell you right now what the cause of conflict is. Hatred, of another's race, ideals, or religious beliefs. Is there a solution to hatred?
...Can you name one instance where a peaceful negotiation produced positive lasting results for the "global community" and the citizens of that land?"

"Hi Sepp - Do you always want war to be the default solution or only when you are on the "team" that has the most weapons?
I agree that hatred and a lack of understanding between people is a cause of war. That doesn't mean we should all just arm ourselves to the teeth and start lobbing hot lead and chemicals at each other.
Some people think we are forced to live within a war of all against all where we have no choice but to kill or be killed. The reality is that we have the choice to live within peaceful communities of life. So I urge you to join this community of people who are actively trying to break down hatreds and the general lack of understanding between people. If we are active for peace, there is less of a chance that we will reach the point of war."

"Yes, I do want war to be the default solution, less time wasted and more action taken. Even if our "team" has less "guns". I truly believe you can split up the world into 2 groups (yes rather black and white, but is there anything wrong with that? Good and evil?). The 2 groups are Traditional West Vs. the Islamic and Marxists. I truly believe that their ideologies are seriously flawed, and they conduct themselves wrongly. You may call me a warmonger and hatemonger if you wish.
Vietnam. We went overthere because the South Vietnameise government requested our support. We were over there to protect them from communism... they knew what would happen if they lost... so they asked a foreigner to help out. Well the folks back in the US, didnt like our involvement, and disgraced our fighting men. Well because of public dislike for the war we withdrew. and the south was overrun and communsim impleminted. Those who served in the army or put up any resistance to the NVA previously, were either excuted or put into "reeducation camps" (consider what really went on there). Subsoquently, In cambodia, Pol Pot rose to power because there was no american force to intervien. Pol pot exterminated around 2.5 million. If those friggen hippies would not have protested then the US would have been able to conduct the war accordinally and eventually win (I can back that up if you wish), if S. Vietnam would have won, then there would have been no "reeducation camps" and pol pot would have never risen to power.
Yes, it is unfortunate that civilians are killed. But, that was back when WWII carpet bombings were the norm. Now days, technology has made it such that the West is able to minimize civilian casualites. What is the reason for all of the civilian deaths? The enemy! I know that sounds a little easy just blaming the enemy for MOST of the civi deaths, but examine it. All of the embasy and building bombings are done by terrorists. those people who were inside the structrues were predominatrly civilians. IEDs kill civilians. You see, muslims dont care who they kill, as long as they attempt or have a chance at killing the enemy. So the cause for most of todays civilian deaths are because of a careless or downright evil enemy.
Again, I mean not to provoke any ill feelings, but I am just stateing what I believe and what I belive reason affirms... if you object to it, let me know."
