And yet, for my part, DailyKOS has become that.
I am so proud of this community and of Kos himself.
There have been many days this election cycle, and over the last few years, when I don't know how I would have gotten through them without this site.
I have never in my extensive history of political junkie-hood seen so much intense, electrifying coverage of so many races in Congressional disticts and statewide Senate races.
I think this site has decisively come into its own during the election cycle. DailyKOS has democratized political analysis and dramatically increased many peoples' understanding (including myself) of how our system does and does not work, and the forces that shape elections on all levels.
There have been, and continue to be to this minute, so many trenchant, carefully thought out diaries on so many key election and social issue topics that I am astounded and humbled. We have some amazing minds at work here.
The level of analysis is on a par with the best I see anywhere else. This is not tinfoil-hat stuff. There's so much of it that I can't single anyone out.
The last several years have been hard for all of us and for all who believe in liberty. I think this is the Faneuil Hall of the 21st Century, and that we are making history here.
We must fight on. Fight with every fiber in our being, we must. But a moment of quiet pride for what we are doing here may also be in order.
Thank you for all that you do. I am so grateful for this little place on the Web. It is a light-filled hall surrounded by darkness. Perhaps in ten days, we will see light come back over the horizon.
