This is just an assembly of recent wingnut sightings in the news. They'd be hilarious if these people didn't run the country.
Israel: A Vision of Oil in the Holy Land
Newsweek
Mobile 3:16 "Thou Shalt Find Oil Here"
June 13 issue - Most biblical references to oil allude to the kind you squeeze from an olive. John Brown, an evangelical Christian from Texas, believes the Jewish Bible also talks about petroleum--and points to its precise location in Israel. With a team of oilmen he assembled mainly in Texas and a map drawn from Scriptures, the 65-year-old businessman began drilling in northern Israel last month.
Raised Roman Catholic, Brown was a tool-company executive in Michigan and an alcoholic when he became a born-again Christian in 1981.
Wow, born again, holier-than-thou alcoholic, all the rage these days. More fun wingnuttery below.
Visions of oil continued
Mobile 3:17 "Thou Shalt Capitalize On That Oil At Any Cost, Or Else"
He says nearly 500 holes have been drilled in Israel in the past 50 years by geologists looking, unsuccessfully, for oil. "I don't know of any other area in the world this small that has been poked so many times," he says. Brown says God won't let him fail. If no oil is found at Maanit by the time he reaches bottom later this month, Brown has plans to drill at least three more holes. That will require more money, which he says evangelical Christians will gladly provide.
Take your gavel and go home

Now this one, I refuse to link to. Here's what Tony Perkins is up to this week. Notice the title.
A Perverse Pilgrimage
June 9, 2005 - Thursday
by: Tony Perkins
By way of an update on a story we covered a few weeks ago that a ten day homosexual celebration called World Pride was scheduled to be held this August in Jerusalem. Israel! The center of three faiths, Christianity, Judaism and Islam, with thousands of homosexuals and lesbians descending upon the city to flaunt their lifestyle. There was even supposed to be a parade through the city. As a result, the World Pride Chair denies that religious opposition had anything to do with this and the World Pride event has been postponed.
From another site I will not link to. My eyes are still burning.
Conservatives see liberal bias in class - and mobilize
By G. Jeffrey MacDonald
"The last six months [have] been kind of a watershed for the academic-freedom movement," says Bradley Shipp, national field director for Students for Academic Freedom, a group founded by conservative activist David Horowitz in 2003. "It is going to filter itself down to the K-12 level."
It's an important battle front, proponents say, because younger students are more impressionable. They are concerned about multicultural lesson plans that go into detail about the Muslim faith, and cite incidents such as a young child being reprimanded by a teacher for writing about wanting to become a soldier.
Turn them militant when they are young and impressionable, they must have learned that secret from the Hezbollah.
And another good one from crooks and liars
Utah Valley State College announced that liberal filmmaker Michael Moore would speak on their campus two weeks before the election. Within 24 hours of the announcement, a media frenzy descended upon the school as angry community members and religious leaders shouted protests, pointed fingers, and quoted Mormon scripture. Some even claimed Moores arrival would bring the Apocalypse. Attempting to calm outrage, the college invited FOX News pundit Sean Hannity to speak a few days before Moore.
Sean Hannity has the power to stop the Apocalypse. I almost wet myself when I read that one.
These are just a couple examples of recent wingnut lunacy. (aside from their constant attack on religion, environment, and planet earth in general.)
