The African American Ministers In Action oppose two of Bush's African American judicial nominees, as broadcase yesterday on C-SPAN.
Patricia Owen
Rev. Charles Stovall, Camp Wilson Methodist Church - Dallas, Texas, has these remarks about Patricia Owen. She has twisted a Texas anti-discrimination law to make it harder for employees to prove racial discrimination. She voted against holding a liquor store liable for selling alcohol to an obviously intoxicated customer who subsequently severely injured a nine year old car while driving drunk. She voted for polluters' rights to opt out of environmental regulations. Fortunately, Judge Owen was the in the minority on all of these votes.
Rev. Stovall also took exception to Justice Sunday and said, "Since when does the radical religious right decide who has faith and who does not have faith."
"Keep the filibuster in place. God does not belong to any political party.
Janice Rogers Brown - California.
Calif. Rev. Leonard Jackson, First AME Church, Los Angeles, CA says, "When I look at my sister, can we judge her by the color of her skin? No, by her character." She once made the comment that "Senior Citizens cannibalize their children." "Despite our desire to see more African American women appointed to the bench, we are dramatically opposed to her views."
