From my blog article
here.
Now, granted; I'm just looking what Henry Hyde said in a logical, literal fashion, so I might be missing something, given how often Republicans 'misspeak' themselves. However, Henry said, and I quote:
"You can wish. You can pray. You can do all sorts of things, but if you don't withhold the dues, it's an empty gesture."
I can't wait to hear what Dr. Dobson thinks of Rep. Hyde equating 'wish', 'pray', 'empty gesture'.
More below the fold.
I'm also wondering in the same blog article, and provide sources, since we're talking religion anyway, how Republicans (and some turncoat Democrats) can object to Dean classifying the Republicans as the 'white, Christian party', when 98.9% of Congressmen are white and 89.4% are men and (I would take bets) greater than 90% self-describe themselves as Christian.
What makes me wonder why Republicans take exception is that the Republicans love to classify the United States as a 'Christian' country, yet only 77% (one secular and one non-secular study both agree) of the country is Christian.
If they can make a classification base on 77%, why can't Dean make a classification based on 90%+?
To paraphrase, "They doth protest too much, methinks."
