My Mom lives in Connecticut and, up until today, had 3 Lamont signs outside of her house. What happened? Here's the letter she wrote to the editor of The Day in New London.
To the Editor:
Three LAMONT and one MALLOY/ANDERSON sign have been standing on our property line for about a month. Then Sunday afternoon some one put up two Lieberman signs and tossed one Lamont sign over the stone wall. I, of course, took down Lieberman and raised up Lamont.
Monday morning, when I went out to pick up The Day, sure that Lamont's lead over Lieberman will be even stronger following the New York Times Sunday editorial endorsement of Lamont, there are NO Lamont signs, NO Malloy in front of our home.
So Lieberman wants me to support Bush's war in Iraq with a vote for him. No opposition permitted. No free speech. Silence Lamont supporters. What's democratic about that? And Lieberman, as an independent candidate, wants to be elected by Bush supporters, not Democrats, it seems.
In addition to knowing that Lamont will challenge Bush's conduct of the war in Iraq, I like the fact that he supports veterans in his home town, that he's a volunteer inner city teacher, supports universal health care and all his employees have health care benefits. He is an enviromentalist who will not support the oil industry's enormous profits with tax breaks as Lieberman has. He supports campaign finance reform, wants no support from lobbyists. He will be an independent voice!
I'll return to Lamont's office @ 154 Hempstead St. in New London, and pick up some more signs today, if they have any left! Do I have to buy an alarm system too?
So that's Mom's letter. I think she knocked it out of the park and I hope they print it.
I wonder if this is the work of Lieberman's new GOTV troops?
