Want to hear what a push poll sounds like?
Here it is! And this push poll was bought and paid for by $$$ pulled out of the Ohio race!
The US Senate race in Ohio is now out of reach for Republicans, so their "independent" slime groups are now diverting their money into Tennessee. The proof is caught on tape! If you listen to the very end, you'll hear that this automated push poll was paid for by "Common Sense Ohio."
Who is Common Sense Ohio? The Nashville Post, who broke the
story on this push poll, explains:
"Common Sense Ohio" is headed by Cincinnati-based Procter & Gamble executive Nathan Estruth. Estruth recently came under fire when he told a Cleveland Plain Dealer reporter that he was an independent but Republican-leaning voter who went to see Ohio Democratic gubernatorial nominee Ted Strickland speak, but was "put off by his partisan rhetoric." In actuality, Estruth is a longtime supporter and financial backer of GOP gubernatorial nominee Ken Blackwell.
"Common Sense Ohio" has also been sued by the Ohio Democratic Party for placing ads critical of Strickland while claiming non-profit status to the Internal Revenue Service.
Criminals and liars, that's who Common Sense Ohio is. No wonder they support the GOP. Kos posted a story about Estruth and Common Sense Ohio here.
If you listen to the push poll, it asks you if you intend to vote for Bob Corker. Then it asks you about several individual issues, following each question with several "facts" about one or both candidates. The "facts" are often outright lies, although a handful are mere distortions. At the end, the automated voice asks you again, knowing what you know now, if you intend to vote for Bob Corker.
This is push polling at its most basic.
It's good news for both Brown and Strickland that these sleaze-mongers have pulled out of Ohio, but it's bad for Tennessee that they think their cash is better spent here. We must fight back!
The Music Row Democrats have put together a positive, informative radio ad in favor of Harold Ford, Jr., and they need our contributions to help keep it on the air! Check out Eleanor A's awesome diary on the radio ad, or listen to the ad here and donate for the ad here.
