They told me it would happen. But I honestly can say I didn't think John Doolittle would go this low.
I am a 26-year veteran of the Air Force. I am a retired Lt. Colonel who won the Distinguished Flying Cross in Vietnam and went on to serve in every major US conflict through Desert Storm. My father is a veteran of WWII. My wife served as an Air Force nurse. Our son, Jeff, is on his way to serve his fourth rotation in Iraq as an Air Force officer.
Now - John Doolittle has the audacity to question my support for the troops in Iraq. My son is on his way to serve - and Doolittle has just launched a major television ad campaign that says I don't support the troops.
This is pure political cowardice from Doolittle.
John Doolittle chose not to serve in our military. He spent much of the war on a student deferment at UC Santa Cruz. I do not criticize his decision not to join the military. But I strongly criticize his attempts to hide his own record of failure and corruption by launching a last-minute attack ad that challenges my support for the troops in Iraq at the very moment our son is on his way there again.
I need your help to stop these attacks. We are telling the truth in an ad that begins airing today.
Please view the ad by clicking here or on the image below.
And please make the most generous contribution you can afford right now by clicking here.
We need to raise a total of $50,000 to keep this ad on the air. Every dollar you give right now will go to fighting back against this shameful attack.
John Doolittle should stand on his record. He should tell us why he is under investigation in the Abramoff bribery scandal. He should tell us why he voted to raise his own pay and against better support of our troops. He should explain to us why he still supports the corrupt government of the Northern Marianas Islands.
Instead - he attacks my support for the troops.
With your help right now, we will fight back. We will use your support to spread the truth - and stand up to the cowardly lies of John Doolittle.
Thank you.
Retired Lt. Colonel Charlie Brown
