These upcoming rallies on May 1st are, I feel, far far far more likely to inflame the "forcible removal" crowd than the smaller pro-amnesty crowd. The right-wing side of the blogosphere has hated Bush for his weak illegal immigration stance for years, and now is in full-on revolt mode. There's even impeachment talk from the far right over this issue. If the Republicans took a hard-line anti-illegal immigration stance, and a pro-fence-building stance, nearly all polling data supports that they would kill us in 2006 (and probably 2008).
So let's say, hypothetically, things get worse before they get better, and enough anti-illegal-immigrant legislators on the Republican side actually follow through with their threat to attempt articles of impeachment over this issue. What should our response be?
