Dont look the other way. Denny Hastert is again trying to divert attention from the fact that tom delay's pac and his close associates who have been criminally indicted in texas are in court today.
He is talking about making travel something needed to be pre-approved. While this is not objectionable it is meant to make people not focus on the potential crimes of tom delay and his pac. the republicans want the public to think the extent of tom delay's corruption is only based on travel.
this is much more serious than the travel rules.
DeLay associates request indictments be dismissed
Two political associates of U-S House Majority Leader Tom DeLay asked a judge today to dismiss felony indictments against them.
They're charged in Austin over corporate contributions related to the 2002 Texas legislative campaigns.
The defense argued that the indictments are based on an unconstitutionally vague law.
John Colyandro and Jim Ellis are accused of one count of money laundering.
Colyandro also faces 13 counts of unlawful acceptance of a corporate political contribution.
At the same time the texas ethics commission is trying to shield and help delay by supressing the name of a politician who requested an opinion regarding this law, then withdrew the request after the commission pointed out that what delay's pac did would be illegal.
any ideas on who the politician was?
could it be delay himself?
is this the smoking gun the texas ethics commission is trying to surpress?
