Just noticed this post on
CommonBlog, concerning a public hearing on election reform in Columbus, Ohio. Considering all the bruhahaha over Coingate, I think we should all take note, and urge all Ohio Kossacks to attend.
It is important for the public to take part in the process and for lawmakers to know Ohioans are interested in the election system.
Entire Common Cause post after the jump. Here is the location for that publich hearing.
As we have been writing last few days - the one party ruling establishment of Ohio has been rocked by a political scandal which is
reverberating coast to coast. Ohioans are rightly concerned about their ability to have any kind of confidence in our political process, which has been tainted by
corruption at all levels of Ohio's state government. So, if there was ever a time of urgency for enacting meaningful election reform in the most crucial battleground state, it is now. And, we need your help today to keep pushing for urgent election reform in the Buckeye state.
Common Cause Ohio has been working for months to strengthen House Bill 3 (H.B. 3) for badly needed changes in Ohio's election system. But now, even though responsible lawmakers have worked to include some good reforms to increase voter access, the proposal looks as though it will do more harm than good to Ohio.
Lawmakers have been pushing to pass this bill, and pass it quick. On Friday, word came out that the public hearing will take place on Wednesday, June 15 at 9:00am and that a substitute, amended version of H.B. 3 will be introduced on the same day. If you live in the Columbus area, please attend this critical hearing. It is important for the public to take part in the process and for lawmakers to know Ohioans are interested in the election system.
So, if you live or work in the Columbus area, please do your best to attend this event. Our legislators need to know that we want strong and substantive election reform for Ohio.
