There's no doubt about it. This week is a huge week in Louisville. There are three events that will keep our fair city in the national spotlight and you won't want to miss it.
First up, the #3 West Virginia Mountaineers vs. # 5 Louisville Cardinals. On deck is the Breeders Cup. And, in the hole, it's Yarmuth vs. Northup.
Details below.
Reason #1 to watch Louisville: The Game
Arguably, it's the biggest football game in Kentucky history. The #5 Louisville Cardinals host the #3 West Virginia Mountaineers. This game could be huge. If the winner goes undefeated the rest of the year, they have a real shot at playing for the National Championship.
Considering that either #1, Ohio State, or, # 2 Michigan will lose in their famous rivalry game and therefore, drop out of contention, and that #4 Florida has1 loss, the winner of the WVU vs. UL game will be in position to take the #2 spot.
The game is on ESPN this Thursday night.
Reason #2 to watch Louisville: The Race
Yes, in addition to hosting the Kentucky Derby each year, this year, Churchill Downs will host the Breeders Cup.
Millions and millions of dollars are on the line here, folks. And, to this day, I didn't know it was, Bernardini all along.
Reason #3: The (other) Race
Finally, we get to politics and our last valid reason to keep your eyes on Louisville. It's Yarmuth v. Northup in a battle royale and national bellwether race.
And, a quick story about the Yarmuth/Northup Debate last night. I don't know how to score debate points, but Yarmuth's last line was great. Northup closed her argument with local politics. She talked about the new bridges and the new VA hospital, as though we could all count on her to deliver. Yarmuth responded, "If you, the voters, think she can to more for this city as part of the minority party, go ahead and vote for Anne Northup.
