on the drive home this evening had an interesting listen to the Washington Post's radio station which has been relentlessly plugging every GOP talking point for the last week . . .
despite the host's pleadings, none of the three guests were buying the story line that the Kerry's statements would have an impact on next week's elections in favor of the Republicans. Two were basically saying it's 2004 revisited and that except for the White House's need to feel relevant in the midterm elections, the American people were way beyond 2004 and just didn't feel that attached to revisiting the 2004 race.
Jonah Goldberg was reduced to whining that the media wasn't covering the story enough.
And one of the guests was even saying that GOP candidates in the field were horrified at the White House's sudden focus on Iraq from which they had desparately been trying to run away
Back to the Rovian drawing board I guess.
Time is running out . . .
