Internal poll numbers just in!! Harold Ford, Jr., is now leading by
6 points in the US Senate race in Tennessee!
According to the latest Hamilton Beattie poll (for the DSCC), Ford is ahead 46-40.
What this poll shows us:
Corker's scumbag tactics are scaring voters away... from himself. The backlash is real! Bob Corker is drowning in waves of bad press, and it is definitely taking a toll on Corker's popularity. Hamilton Beattie had Ford up by only 2 less than a week ago, but Corker's support is shrinking away.
If you take a look at all the polls (internal and independent), you'll see Ford's numbers remaining strong and stable. Corker's numbers, on the other hand, are all over the map. That's not the sign of a strong campaign!
It shows you that Ford's supporters are solidly behind him while Corker's support is very soft. This means Ford still has a chance to win over hesitant Corker supporters even though we're less than one week from election day. More importantly, this means Ford supporters are much more likely to actually show up on election day and vote. Early voting numbers are proving this to be true!
For those of you losing faith in this race, remember this: If Corker thought he was solidly in the lead, he would NOT have dumped another $2 million of his OWN money into the campaign this week. That's not the sign of a strong campaign!
Corker has bled his supporters dry in the most expensive race in Tennessee history (he's spent $16 million already, obliterating the old $11 million record). And he doesn't have much to show for it - just a wavering lead and lukewarm support.
And consider this: Ford raised more than $1 million in ONE day this week, which shows you just how powerful and effective his campaign really is!
Corker is spending his $2 million to launch five (count `em, five!) new negative ads against Ford this week. That's not the sign of a strong campaign either! Corker is airing not a single ad in which he tells the people of Tennessee what he intends to do as Senator.
Look at what Webb is doing in Virginia - he's going positive for the last week of the campaign. That's what strong candidates do. They seize the momentum and motivate their supporters. Corker is still desperately slinging mud and wallowing in the gutter. He's not feeling strong - because his own internal poll numbers are telling him this race is a dead heat!
Can you feel the momentum starting to roll back in Ford's direction? I feel it, baby!
The new Hamilton Beattie poll included 600 LIKELY voters, with a moe of +/- 4%.
