Please take a minute to indulge me. Maybe I'm working on my dance before we've scored a touchdown. But there is a speech that I would like to hear in the next few days.
If the Democrats decisively win control of the House of Representatives next Tuesday, then I would like Rahm Emmanuel and Howard Dean to give a joint speech to Democratic staffers and volunteers. Maybe a few TV cameras should be there. Rahm could talk about how the DCCC strategy and the fifty state strategy complemented each other nicely, and he could thank everybody for their hard work. And how he was happy win so many seats in Illinois, Pennsylania, and Connecticut.
And then Howard says:
That's right, Rahm Emmanuel, not only have won in Pennsylvania and Connecticut, we've won in New Hampshire in the 2nd, and in New York, in the 20th, 24th, 25th, 26th, 29th (Dean counts off on his fingers each NY seat taken over).
But wait... there's many, many more. (Dean begins walking the stage and his volume raises a bit. A finger jab now accompanies the count of seats taken over.) We've won Indiana in the 2nd, 8th, and 9th, and we've won Kentucky in the 3rd and 4th! And Ohio in the 1st, 2nd, 18th and 15th!
And we've won in places that haven't seen Democrats in years! (Dean's voice is now quite loud, and fist pumps accompany the count of taken over seats.) We've won in the North Carolina 8th and 11th! California in the 11th and 4th! Arizona in the 1st and 8th! Colorado in the 4th and 7th! Nebraska 3rd!!! Idaho 1st!!! Wyoming at-large!!!
AND GEORGE BUSH BETTER LEARN HOW TO SAY SPEAKER PELOSI BECAUSE WE'RE GOING TO WASHINGTON DC AND WE'RE TAKING BACK THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES!
The crowd and all on stage scream.
(This by no means a prediction of which seats will be taken over, the seats were chosen off the top of my head. But each one made me smile. Hopefully so many seats are taken over that it would be near impossible for Gov Dean to list them all off in an impromptu speech....)
