Last month, 105 American soldiers died in Iraq.
The Iraqi government has asked for the US to stay for another 3 years. At the current rate of losses, which would assume things stay the same (despite the fact that in reality they are getting worse, always worse):
- 3780 more americans will sacrifice their lives in Iraq
- 20,000 more americans will be maimed, disfigured and psychologically tormented for life
- Perhaps as many as 600,000 more Iraqis will die
There is a price to pay for every day we stay. The administration does not pay that price, we do not pay that price, the US service men and women pay that price. What price should they pay?
How do we respond to the idea of "benchmarks" when the administration has no plans: please comment
Three more years?
