There's a feature on Nancy Pelosi in the San Francisco Chronicle today. You can find it at

One passage stands out as especially interesting: in it, Pelosi appears to claim that there is a possibility the Republicans will steal this election. Here's the passage:
"Pelosi cautioned that the number of Democratic House victories could be higher or lower and said her greatest concern is over the integrity of the count -- from the reliability of electronic voting machines to her worries that Republicans may try to manipulate the outcome.
"That is the only variable in this," Pelosi said. "Will we have an honest count?'' "
There you have it in black and white: even the Democratic minority leader believes that Republicans may manipulate the counting of votes.
Other mainstream Democratic party people also seem to believe that this could be the case: I'm sure you're all familiar with RFK Jr.'s article on the theft of Ohio in Rolling Stone. And I even recall Vilsack leaving open the possibility in his campaign materials. So one thing I'm wondering is why, when mainstream Democrats like Pelosi and Kennedy appear to believe that election theft may well take place (Pelosi) or has already taken place (Kennedy), why are such views so readily dismissed on Daily Kos as the rantings of tinfoil-hatters? Even to the extent that a diary from a Mitofsky-Edison employee was front-paged yesterday, in an apparent effort to ward off any complaints Daily Kos members might have should the exit polls show a Democratic victory and the actual (possibly manipulated) vote counts result in a Republican victory?
That said, please be aware that it will be a lot harder for the Republicans to steal the election if there's a Democratic landslide, which is why, if possible, we all need to take tomorrow and Tuesday off and volunteer, volunteer, volunteer.
