Both parties are getting 'lawyered-up' for never-ending election challenges, and I'm glad to see it.
But the truth is, lots of lawyers don't give me all that much confidence right now. We have a pathetic six-year history in this country of rolling over in the face of rampant corruption. We stomp our feet and gnash our teeth and write our letters and call our representatives and none of it makes one goddamn bit of difference. The cheaters get what they wanted all along, and the people who play by the rules get fucked over one more time.
Odds are, it'll happen again this week. Odds are, people in the poorest precincts in America will be standing in lines all day hoping to vote, while Republicans in affluent precincts have more voting machines than they know what to do with. Odds are, there will be computer glitches and backwards counting and lost memory cards and worse. And odds are, they'll get away with it. Again.
Which brings me to this question:
What are you personally going to do if the election in your district or in a neighboring district yields results that are impossible to believe?
I'm seriously looking for advice here. What exactly should we do?
