If you look up, you will see the Moon. Beware of werewolves tonight, for the Moon is 100% Full. Here in North Carolina, that Moon, I swear by Selene, has a tinge of blue.
A "blue moon election" (see, and help edit,
the wiki entry) is occuring this year in North Carolina. The effect of a "blue moon" is to drastically alter the voter turnout pattern.
Consider the NC-08 and NC-11 races, and look at this turnout:
The first line is registration, the second is number of people that have early voted. The third is percentage of people who have early voted from each category, and the last is the percentage of early voters from the category:

Now, I'm going to go out on a limb here (I've dragged quite a few recently, so I feel entitled). Though RT Strategies has NC-08 and NC-11 both more or less showing the same Democratic lead, I think that NC-08 will win by a bit more.
Blue moons are strange things. Beware of strange things that go -- bump -- in the night.

P.S. It is NOT too late to contribute to either of these fine races, but NC-08 needs it more. Use the "Netroots Challengers" link, or go to this link.
P.P.S. If you want to come to North Carolina to work on election day, the satellites tell us that it will be between 50-68 degrees F, with a 10% chance of scattered showers. Much more pleasant than many areas of the country. Call 1-877-454-7735, and let them know you are coming! Arrangements can be made.
