I recommend THE most entertaining and IMPORTANT political work I may have ever read - a work that convinced me that Wesley Clark is the best person of all '08's potential presidential candidates! Through this work, I became convinced that Wes is the most competent and able captain to sail our ship of state through the present storm into a safe port.
I'm a 60 year old ARDENT anti-Bushite from Oregon. I go to nearly all of the peace protests, to many impeach Bush protests and I canvass for the DNC, but more importantly I strive to be well informed. I believe that opinion should be preceded by information and followed by hard work and I've put a lot of thought into the best Democratic presidential candidate for '08. My intro may have sounded hyperbolic to some, but I assume that most of you know just how urgently we need new leadership in Washington.
I recently was lucky enough to come across a political parable called "The Switch." It's a story set in the context of a teacher discussing with his students all of the evidence that proves that the Bush Administration is as corrupt as they are incompetent. Even though I already knew that, I was still shocked by the cummulative evidence. I think there must be many Americans, who like me, are suffering from a form of PTSD. We Americans were shocked by Katrina, shocked by the "k" street scandal, etc. etc. until shell shock set in. I believe that even the most well informed person will find as I did fresh examples and/or reminders of the disasters and monumental failures of the last 6 years. By contrast, I was absolutely blown away to discover what an incredible leader and human being that Wesley Clark is. He was not my first choice in 04, but now I realize that he would have been if I had done my homework better....and I have no doubt that anyone who is sane enough to understand that Bush is a problem will also have no doubt upon finishing this work that Wes Clark is the ONLY man capable of picking up Bush's pieces and re-uniting this country; not to mention that there's no one else who could instill more confidence in the military and intelligence communities. Add to that the man was knighted in 6 European countries and has the respect of all of our NATO allies. ...Did I mention that 55 American ambassadors endorsed him too?
I realize of course that plenty military folk have an unfavorable opinion of him, but once they, too, take the time to learn what a hero this man is, and see that no one else would have their backs like President Clark would--along with being America's best chance for salvaging the ostensibly untenable disaster Bush unleashed--they'll be breathing just as big a sigh of relief as the rest of us if Wesley is given a chance to grab the riens.
Most of the characters in "The Switch" are portrayed by celebrities so it's actually very funny despite how infuriating it is. Considering how many of our favorite people of political notoriety are quoted in it, along with hyperlinks to footage of some of the best clips from The Daily Show and The Colbert Report and Bush being a dufus, and the most fascinating array of links to articles and Daily Kos diaries, it's safe to say that this is going to have a VERY broad appeal. After all, we know how fast the MSM's ears perk up anytime a celebrity's name drops.
Anyway, I desperately hope that this story gets to be a "best seller" soon because I am VERY worried about where things are going to go in this country if the Bush Administration isn't forced to resign (let alone go to jail). And as crazy as this may sound, this story actually made me believe that we could see that happen if we simply decided to give this story a ubiquitous buzz so that what's left of Bush supporters will be too curious to not read it. (Pardon me for being a starry-eyed idealist, but I believe in fulfilling self-fulfilling prophecies.) But at the very least, if we get the entire anti-Bush/Neocon community to read this, it'll virtually leave no debate as to who should be our nominee in 08.
So I hope that all of you will stop what you're doing and read "The Switch" now. ...but first read this collection of awards and accolades Wes has received over the years to see why I'm so confident that the larger majority of the intelligence and military communities will CHEER when Clark becomes our Commander-in-Chief.
