First off, to say that you don't like us and we don't like you is an understatement. However, rather than revisit the many details that hold that statement together, let me be the first to however cringingly congratulate you on your win as an Independent Senator.
Because we must respect the results of the election and eventually move on, I feel it crucial at this juncture to remind you of the rhetorical promises you made to preserve a (note I didn't say your) seat in the Senate. Further, I would strongly advise you to have one of your staffers contact Markos and request permission to publish a diary outlining your pledge to uphold your promises in reference to our Democratic Party.
Despite your words, the polling data (below) clearly points out how you won:
from CNN:
...and despite these results, as you had pledged, your loyalties lie right here with the Democratic Party including folks like us who didn't want you, but must endure your victory nonetheless.
During your campaign, you characterized yourself as an "Independent Democrat" and pledged to "Caucus with the Democratic Party [sic.]" Frankly, sir, at this point, I don't trust you and will be expressing my mistrust in the absence of your direct pledge to this opposing forum that you will uphold your loyalty to my party. Like it or not, Mr. Lieberman, the fact is, you left my party, thus, it is not your party and you must prove your loyalty before you enjoy any prestige or benefit. As for your committees and seniority; my opinion and my new charge is to ensure that they are taken away. Those perks belong to the Democratic Party, of which you are no longer a member.
And so, where we must sacrifice our pride and respect your victory, you must accept that you are now a guest in our house. Don't think you can open our fridge and fix yourself a meal. Were you to respect my party, you would have gracefully accepted your own defeat. Because you did not-because you took advantage of the offerings of the Republican Party and Republican constituents- because you have gone against my party, in order for you to have any association with my party, you must muster the courage to address this forum directly and reinforce your campaign pledges. After which, the degree of your acceptance will be metered and issued based on the meritorious and tangible results as we progress.
Make no mistake, Mr. Lieberman. You are, in fact, not a Democrat, and because of your choice to disregard one of the foundational unwritten rules of our party's electoral process, you didn't make any friends over here. It is up to you and not us to repay your enormous debt. I would suggest that you start right now by having the guts to address your diametric opponents, as we have you.
We'll see where we're at once you gather whatever it takes to do so.
Until then, Mr. Lieberman... Until then.
Please note that Markos might not want you to do this here and you must ask first.
