Another close one. This one, the Dem has the
narrow advantage heading into the recount.
U.S. Rep.-elect Joe Courtney, D-2nd District, claimed victory Wednesday shortly after the certified results from Tuesday's election gave him a 167-vote edge over three-term Republican Congressman Rob Simmons.
Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz announced the results at 2 p.m., noting the margin of victory was within the range to trigger an automatic recount of all votes cast in the 65-town district. State law mandates a recount if a race is decided by one-half of 1 percent of the votes cast [...]
More than 242,000 votes were cast overall. There are 70 provisional votes that have not been counted yet, but Courtney said it is unlikely those votes would change the outcome. The recount could take up to a week to complete.
Recounts are good.
