Bill O'Reilly doesn't cease to amaze me. Just 48 hours after the Republican party received a much deserved beat down, the falafel man went on Greta Van Susteren's program to peddle his latest "fiction piece" called 'Culture Warrior.'
For those of you who lived under a rock the last few months, Bill-O has declared war on anything that isn't close to his traditional values. The thesis of his book is that America is being held under seige by "Secular Progressives" or "S-P's" as he likes to call them.
According to Bill-O, the "S-P's" want to destroy Christmas, the Judeo-Christian majority of this country, and enforce their beliefs down everyone's throat.
The only problem is, none of it is true.
Like Rush "I feel liberated" Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly needs to innoculate his viewers from the reality that's out there, in order to facilitate his tradtionalist leaders into doing whatever it is they want.
Prior to tuesday, it was succeeding.
I hate to sound like a broken record, but under the traditonal Conservative regime over the last 12 years, this nation has been reduced to nothing more than a laughingstock. The Constitution has been nothing more than a piece of paper with words on it. New Orleans washed away. And, decent Americans were left to cower in fear, because the they exercised their patriotic duty in holding the President of the United States accountable for his actions.
Yet, Bill-O wants to continue with this fantasy of "Secularists" vs. "Traditionalists."
Tonight, Bill-O claimed he was a changed man. After watching the chaos following Hurricane Katrina, Billy boy now deems it acceptable to brandish a gun to protect your home and family.
Hey, Bill, how about protecting the nation from a rogue administration who's only goal is to seize all of Iraq's oil supply.
O'Reilly also claimed that the S-P's want to tax the rich heavily in order to pay for all of this country's expensives.
Just a reminder Bill, never, ever proclaim you're nothing more than a humble newscaster. You're just a whore for wealthy Americans.
The midterm elections should teach all these infantile Culture War soldiers that the nation doesn't give a flying fuck about whether or not there's a War on Christmas, or if a child is allowed to say "Under God" when reciting the pledge of allegience.
The American people are more focused on the important issues like Iraq, health care, the minimum wage, ethics in Congress, and jobs.
No one cares, about a "war on Christmas" or if the rich will be taxed until they can't shit money. Those complaints by O'Reilly are nothing like the disillusioned American public over the travesty that is the Iraq war.
So, my message to Bill and his Culture war cohorts: Give a rest. Or, better yet, let this culture war nonsense die.
It was fun to laugh out loud at the sheer idiocy of these paranoid feeling, but now with a new day in America, the focus should be squared on how to bring this country back.
Not concentrating all our energies to a mythical war that only enables the people responsiblity for turning America into a useless wasteland.
