** Won't you please share the joy of WYFP by recommending?
WYFP is our community's Saturday evening gathering to talk about our problems, empathize with one another, and perhaps share advice. Everyone and all sorts of troubles are welcome. May we find peace and healing here. :-)
I may not be able to participate as much as I like to tonight, since I'm doing this on a borrowed laptop--my computer crashed and is currently in the shop being diagnosed. It seems to be a hardware issue but I don't think it's the hard drive, at least I pray it is not the hard drive. I have a second HD in there that I always meant to hook up and use to back up my data, but I've never actually done so.
Let's see, other effing problems... it snowed, snow is very pretty and I can't say I mind snow too much, but snow is cold and messy and can be un-fun. I've finally signed a lease on a new efficiency apartment, very small but in a great location in downtown Madison, WI, I can move in December 1st. Who knows what the weather will be, but I can tell you that landlords were very eager to rent to me because winter is not a popular time to move in Wisconsin. My disability income is about $800 per month and the apartment is $480 per month with utilities paid. This means I'm a poor person, but I have no debts, no car, simple needs, and I can be poor quite happily. The goal of life is not so much to be rich as to be happy, and I have a great many things to be grateful for.
I'm grateful the Democrats did hugely in the midterm elections. But it's an effing problem that Wisconsin passed state constitutional amendments in favor of the death penalty and against same sex marriage and civil unions. Nationwide, anti-marriage amendments passed by margins of 12% less than the last time around, and in Arizona one even failed to pass. But I feel the tragedy of the human impact of these amendments, both their personal hurtfulness and their barring the way to sorely needed protections for committed couples and families.
Oh, also, this current apartment is sort of a mess and is going to be a big PITA to clean up and repair. But, I'm so excited about the new one and getting to live downtown that it's tolerable.
Okay, so what's your effing problem tonight?
