Interesting AP article on how Megachurchgoers can get left in the lurch when their spiritual svengalis turn out to be hucksters.
The good news is, as soon as one preacher gets exposed as a crank-addled john, there's another one ready to take his place, pre-equipped with a brand new series of books on tape explaining how God wants them to be rich.
With that in mind, I have a few words of advice for those from
Rev. Haggard's flock who may be out shopping for a new shepherd.
If you get asked for money more than once during a church service, you're being scammed.
If God wanted Christian fundamentalists to be rich, he wouldn't have let all those oil fields in Texas and Oklahoma dry up.
No sane person obsesses over what other people do with their naughty bits. If a preacher spends a lot of time talking about the evils of man on man action, it's probabaly because he wants a piece of said action.
For that matter, any God that would look at all the savage, horrible things that people do to each other on this planet and still get worked up over homosexuality probabaly deserves to go the way of Zeus and Ba'al.
