It could be a holding pattern, or it could be a time to exit, side stage, quietly planting the next project. But it might be a time to stand fast and desperately hold together decaying orbits with some
telekinesis of the soul.
We think these are the thoughts of victory. We think these are the thoughts of defeat. Actually, they are the reality of human involvement - they bespeak care. I hate to use that Heideggerian term [sorge has it's principal meanings as sorrow and alarm]. I hate to use the "rightist" terminology, but it does speak for this emotion: sorge, care - alarm and sorrow.
We've had an election in which we've been remarkably successful. We've had an election in which we've been remarkably slaughtered; we have a project in our professional or personal lives in which the same obtains.
We have care - and it is how we interpret that idea that changes history. What do we do with that care? What do we do with it as individuals? What do we do with it collectively? What do we do with it in our inner lives? What do we do with it in our outer lives? What do we do with it morally? What do we do with it in our solipsistic urge to recreate ourselves anew?
We have won an election. I may be losing a band. Many of you may be affirming new relationships. Many of you might be squirming out of or fretting within yours. Some of us are going into normalcy mode... All of these things are mixed up. We have care in so many aspects of our life.
There is no personal. There is no political. There is only whatever we, as caring people, bring into the world.
What do you care about?
