In yet another example of the Republican Culture of Corruption, former Illinois governor George Ryan has been found guilty of all charges against him.
This trial has been going on since last September. It's been quite a convoluted process that involved the matter of selling drivers licenses to unqualified truckers during Ryan's tenure as Secretary of State. It even involved the death of six children who were killed in a car accident involving one of those truckers. You can follow the entire trial here at the Chicago Tribune's website.
This case is a perfect example of what the consequences of political corruption can become. When politicians are in the pocket of donors, the results could be deadly. I don't care if they are Republican or Democrat, corrupt politicians have to be rooted out and dealt with.
I'll update when more information is available.
It looks like georgia10
has this covered, so I'll just provide a link to the
Chicago Tribune story,
here.
Naturally, Ryan has said he will appeal.
